A recently launched political party has decided to install artificial intelligence as a leader after his Maverick founder stopped a defeat in elections.
The path to Rebirth Party, which was launched in January by Shinji Ishimaru, a former mayor of a small city in West -Japan, has no policy platform and its members are free to set their own agenda.
Ishimaru unexpectedly became in second place in the Gubernatorial Elections of Tokyo in 2024 thanks to a successful online campaign, but he stopped the party after it had not picked up any seats at this year’s higher elections.
“The new leader will be AI,” Koki Okumura, a doctoral student of AI Research who described himself as an assistant to the new leader, at a press conference.
Details about the AI still have to be decided, including when and how it will be implemented, said the 25-year-old student at Kyoto University, who will become the leader of the party nominal.
The AI will not dictate political activities of party members, but will focus on decisions such as the distribution of her resources among members, said Okumura, who recently won a party competition to follow Ishimaru.
While he attracts media attention, the path to rebirth has difficulty winning chairs.
All his 42 candidates lost in the June Tokyo Assembly elections. All are 10 candidates who were able to go through the elections of the higher in July, also lost.
