Jennifer Lopez’s complete absence from the new HBO Max docuseries Alex vs. A-Rod has caught many fans off guard, fueling speculation about why she was left out of a project that aims to explore Alex Rodriguez’s life from every angle.
The series, described as “Alex Rodriguez reflects on his journey from baseball prodigy to one of the sport’s most controversial figures,” promises an in-depth and unfiltered look into the former MLB star’s personal and professional history.
Directors Gotham Chopra and Erik LeDrew stated that “nothing was off the table” during the making of the documentary, and the series tackles sensitive topics including past “indiscretions”, his Yankees years and even his affair with Madonna.
Despite this openness, Jennifer Lopez is never mentioned—an omission that raises questions, especially as other important figures in Rodriguez’s life appear. His ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis is there and plays a significant role, justified by their marriage from 2002 to 2008 and their two daughters.
Logically, Lopez – his fiancée for years – also seems essential to his story, but she is completely missing.
Rodriguez and Lopez were together for four years and even got engaged, with a wedding being planned and postponed twice before eventually breaking up.
Yet the filmmakers chose not to shift the story to his recent romantic life, instead focusing on the choices that defined his career, his public controversies, and his path to personal rebuilding.
In that context, the relationship with Lopez may not have aligned with the thematic direction the creators prioritized. Still, fans continue to debate her absence, especially considering how prominent the couple was during their relationship.
Reports from Page six suggest that one of the reasons behind their breakup was Rodriguez’s alleged scandal involving model Madison LeCroy, along with other rumors of infidelity.
Lopez, who has been married three times — including a brief marriage to Ojani Noa, followed by her marriage to Cris Judd and later her engagement to Rodriguez — eventually married Ben Affleck in 2022 before splitting two years later.
