Sydney Sweeney shares no. 1 advice she’d give aspiring young actors

Sydney Sweeney offers clear guidance to young performers hoping to build a career in Hollywood.

“Do it as long as you love it,” the 28-year-old actress told People at the premiere of The Housemaid in New York City.

She emphasized that passion is the only reliable fuel in an industry characterized by rejection. ‘You have to love it very much, because it is very difficult, and you will be told ‘no’ more often than ‘yes’. If you love it with all your heart and soul, none of that matters because you get to do what you love.”

Sweeney started working in 2009 and built her resume through guest roles on major shows like Grey’s Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars.

Her career breakthrough came in the late 2010s with roles in The Handmaid’s Tale, Sharp Objects and Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood. She later became a global name through Euphoria and has since appeared in The White Lotus, Immaculate, Everyone but You, Madame Web and Christy, while trying her luck at producing.

In her latest film, The Housemaid, based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling psychological thriller, Sweeney plays a desperate young woman who takes a job with a wealthy couple played by Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar.

Looking back on her early years, Sweeney said she always loved auditioning. “You get to try out different characters. If you want to do this as a kid, make sure you really love it.”
