George Clooney says he’s moving away from on-screen kissing after a conversation with his wife, Amal Clooney.
The 64-year-old actor recently made the revelation in a Daily mail interview, in which he shares that he is following in Paul Newman’s footsteps by avoiding romantic scenes with female co-stars.
“I tried to go the route that Paul Newman did. ‘Okay, I’m not kissing a girl anymore,'” George told the outlet.
He continued: “When I turned 60, I had a conversation with my wife. I said, ‘I can still play basketball with the boys. I play with 25-year-old boys. I can still hang, I’m in shape. But in 25 years I’ll be 85 years old… that’s a real number,'” he began.
He also opened up about past film challenges, most notably his on-screen kiss with Julia Roberts Ticket to paradise (2022), which he joked required “80 takes.” However, he explained that 79 people laughed before the final shot.
Clooney has made several other romantic films including Unbearable cruelty (2003) with Catherine Zeta-Jones, and One nice day (1996) with Michelle Pfeiffer.
The Oscar winner also spoke about his marriage, saying the compromise has kept it strong.
“We’ve never had a fight. Part of that is because I’m at a point in my life where I don’t care if she wants to paint the wall red,” he said in a CBS News interview.
George and Amal were introduced by a friend in July 2013, started dating and got engaged in April 2014. They married in September 2014 and later welcomed 8-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.
