Megadeth star Dave Mustaine reveals about health diagnosis

Megadeth frontman has revealed that a condition affecting his hands is the reason he has decided to retire after a farewell tour in support of their upcoming latest album.

The thrash metal icons will have lunch with their self-titled album next month and the band will tour Canada in February and March before heading to Europe in the summer, followed by a return to North America.

Now the singer and guitarist has given up. more details on the reasons for ending his remarkable career, saying the effects of “Dupuytren’s contracture” on his hands make it “really painful” to continue playing.

Mustaine shows the interviewer how the condition affects him, telling MariskalRockTV, “My finger is going to come right off.”

“It’s already started, it’s starting to bunch up a little bit. And then if you look at the tips of my fingers, they’re severely arthritic. So all those bumps are making it really painful to play,” he further explained.

He plans to undergo surgery to halt the progression of the condition, but not before the farewell tour dates.

Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine further said, “If I’m waiting for my hands to cause a problem and I try and it doesn’t work, then I’ve traveled everywhere, I’ve said goodbye to everyone and I don’t leave anything unsaid or unfinished.”

Dupuytren’s contracture, once known as Viking disease, causes the fingers to become permanently bent and usually starts as small, hard lumps just under the skin of the palm.
