For Disney, the Zootopia franchise became a goldmine as its sequel dethroned Frozen 2 to become the studio’s highest-grossing animated film.
At the global box office, the animated film stands at $1.46 billion, much of which, $1.13 billion, comes from abroad, especially China.
Strong international box office figures propelled the film to the $1 billion mark in just 17 days.
In the film, Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman reprise their roles as Judy Hopps, the rabbit, and Nick Wilde, the clever fox.
But Zootopia 2 is not the only Disney film that is doing good business. James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash is another one.
The film has soared to $750 million worldwide to date, as its compelling universe, complex characters and insightful story power the third installment to reach the coveted $1 billion mark.
