Paul Mescal clears the air after his comment about quitting acting.
In a recent conversation with People, the 29-year-old Irish actor clarified comments he recently made to The Guardian, where he said he “learned that I don’t think I can move on. [acting] as much.”
Mescal now emphasizes that his statement has been misunderstood.
“Oh, what I mean by that is I’m excited about the period of time that will fundamentally exist where I won’t be promoting anything,” he told the outlet.
The actor explained: ‘I would really go crazy if I took two years off [from] of my work.”
“But what I’m excited about is the concept of not going on a promotional tour for the next two years,” Mescal continued.
Mescal also joked about stepping back from the spotlight, adding, “I think it will give people a welcome break from seeing my face.”
The Gladiator II star also made things clear in a recent conversation with Variety on the Critics Choice Awards red carpet.
He said: “To be clear, I couldn’t be further from retirement. Essentially, after Hamnet, I have nothing to promote for the next two years.”
