Henry Czerny Reveals How Steve Martin Brought Laughter to ‘Pink Panther’ Set

Henry Czerny recalls the charming experience of filming the Pink Panther.

Henry, who played villain Yuri the Trainer in the Shawn Levy-directed film, recalled the best things about the film ahead of the film’s 20th anniversary.

The Mission: Impossible star praised lead actor Steve Martin’s musical humor on set with his banjo.

“Steve was great. There were moments between takes while they were setting up, and Steve would take out his banjo and play for himself and others who would listen,” the actor told People.

He said the Only murders in the building The star’s musical levity was much needed “amid the attempts to put together a comedy with a great history behind it.”

“The original Pink Panthers were something tender to play because they’re so great, and you wanted to deliver on that,” the actor noted.

“While we were all trying to make sure that whatever we came up with was very entertaining, every now and then you would hear this banjo, this seemingly relaxed leader of the acting group, playing his banjo in the corner. It was a nice combination. It was a nice addition to the day,” he added.

The Pink Panther was released in 2006 and also starred Kevin Kline, Emily Mortimer and Jean Reno.
