American actor and writer George Takei is relying on the support of his husband, Brad Altman, following his recent health problems and foot surgeries.
Takei, 89, famous for taking on the role of Hikaru Sulu in the film Star Trek franchise, has reportedly used a wheelchair more often during his recovery.
According to reports, Altman, 72, has taken on the role of full-time caregiver as the actor deals with his health issues.
A source close to the couple said Altman has been with Takei every step of the recovery process, helping with appointments and daily needs.
The insider added that the situation has brought the couple even closer together, saying that Altman’s support is more of an act of love and devotion than an obligation.
‘This is not a burden, it is dedication’ Radaronline quoted the insider, who added that Altman “is there for everything.”
Takei and Altman have been together for decades and married in 2008 after same-sex marriage became legal in California.
