Bulgaria’s Dara Yotova gets real about nervous start before Eurovision victory


Eurovision winner Dara Nikolaeva Toyova from Bulgaria looks back on the “doubt and fear” she experienced before participating in Europe’s largest music competition.

Speaking to the media after her win, the 27-year-old admitted that she was initially unsure whether she would take part in the Eurovision Song Contest.

“At first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to come or not because I had fear and doubt in myself,” The independent the winner quoted.

In the same speech, she thanked her husband for encouraging her to enter the competition and overcome her hesitation.

Despite her early uncertainty, Yotova won the competition held in Vienna, Austria on Saturday, May 16. Bangaranga and scored a total of 516 points in the Wiener Stadthalle.

Her win made her Bulgaria’s first ever Eurovision winner.

Israeli Noam Bettan came second with 343 points, while Romanian Alexandra Căpitănescu came third with 296 points.
