Tom Ellis has a compelling reason why he hasn’t watched most of it FBI before filming his new spin-off C.I.A.
C.I.Aan American police procedural television series created by Dick Wolf and David Hudgins, was released on February 23, 2026 on CBS.
Before the series’ release, Ellis, who portrays Colin Glass, had a conversation with We weekly.
The famous Welsh actor admitted that he “definitely wanted to keep it separate because it’s a very different agency and they work very differently and operate very differently. The enjoyment of the clash actually gets better the less I know about the FBI and what they do.”
But instead of completely withdrawing from the show, he “watched a little.”
“Obviously, I’ve known about the shows and the Dick Wolf TV kingdom for years and years,” but he avoided getting more deeply involved in the show.
“We do cross-pollinate a little bit. But it’s two shows. I wouldn’t say they’re spin-off shows, but two shows that really complement each other,” Tell me lies star explained.
Ellis also noticed a drastic difference during the comparison C.I.A of FBI as “the FBI deals primarily with crimes that have already occurred and the CIA tries to prevent the crime from happening in the first place.”
“The FBI is a very public arm of law enforcement. They are the poster boy of American law enforcement. And the CIA is very much in the shadows – and doesn’t want to be on any posters. They don’t want people to see who they are and they operate in a very kind of voyeuristic way,” he clarified.
It is pertinent to note that FBIwhich first started on CBS in 2019, is about the Federal Bureau of Investigation agent in New York City.
When the show became a huge success, CBS also released a release FBI: Most Wanted, Federal Bureau of Investigation Fugitive Task ForceAnd FBI: International spinoff.
