Lamar Odom just admitted that he is very happy after his rehabilitation.
The 46-year-old retired basketball star underwent a 30-day treatment program in Los Angeles to curb his marijuana use before it could “lead to anything else,” but returned home on February 25 and is doing well.
Lamar’s spokesperson said this We weekly magazine: “He’s out of rehab as of this afternoon. He was there 30 days.”
“He wanted to quit smoking marijuana completely and was afraid it would lead to something else. He wanted to reset. He looks and feels great,” the rep added.
Lamar – who was previously married to Khloe Kardashian – has admitted that he started using marijuana as a teenager and that he began “discovering” substance use after his mother died.
In the latest episode of the Cousins with Vince Carter + Tracy McGrady podcast, when Lamar was asked what led him to substance abuse, he said, “Pot.”
“But for a lot of people, the addiction isn’t passed on genetically,” he explained, adding, “My father was a heroin addict. When you start doing pot and you don’t get a high anymore, you think, ‘Maybe I’ll try cocaine.'”
Lamar recalled, “My mom died when I was twelve years old. So when your moms pass away and you’re in New York City, it’s hard… Part of me said fuck it, and then part of me said, I really have to get it done.”
The former NBA star “loved” drugs and regularly used cocaine during the NBA season: “I’ll be real with you, I loved drugs.”
‘You’re talking to a real addict. I snorted cocaine. … I had great cocaine summers. That was my way of beating the system,” Lamar admitted.
His decision to enter rehab came after he was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (DUI) in the early hours of January 17 in Las Vegas.
He was accused of speeding more than 40 miles per hour and improperly changing lanes/or failing to maintain lane.
Although Lamar Odom denied being under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of his arrest, he still took action to overcome his addiction.
