Darcy Kuemper pulled after allowing four goals in second period

The Oilers-Kings game took a sharp turn Thursday night when goaltender Darcy Kuemper was pulled from Los Angeles after giving up four goals on 15 shots.

Kuemper was ejected from the game with 13:11 left in the second period during a stoppage in play.

He headed straight to the dressing room and was replaced by backup goalkeeper Anton Forsberg.

The move came shortly after Oilers captain Connor McDavid scored a highlight reel, pulling Kuemper out of position and extending Edmonton’s lead to 4-1.

Zach Hyman later added another goal against Forsberg to make it 5-1.

Kuemper’s early departure meant a tough night for the Kings netminder in a key Western Conference game.

The Kings also lost forward Joel Armia during the game as he was ruled out due to an upper-body injury, according to Kings PR.

Edmonton continued to control the game after the goal change, while the Oilers-Kings game turned heavily in their favor.
