Justin Timberlake moves to block release of body cam footage from DWI arrest

Justin Timberlake has filed a petition to stop the release of police body camera footage of his June 2024 arrest for drunken driving.

The 45-year-old was arrested on June 18, 2024, after leaving the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, New York. He was initially charged with driving under the influence, along with tickets for ignoring a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane.

His attorney, Edward Burke Jr., said at the time that Timberlake was “not drunk.” However, in September 2024, he accepted a plea deal and admitted to a reduced charge for driving under the influence.

Court documents filed in Suffolk County Superior Court on March 2 allege that releasing the images would be an invasion of privacy. The petition states that public distribution would cause “serious and irreparable harm” to his personal and professional reputation and would not serve any legitimate public interest.

His legal team claims the video also contains deeply personal material, including footage from his vehicle and details about his family.

They requested an emergency stay to prevent disclosure under New York’s Freedom of Information Law, following a request to the Sag Harbor Village Police Department.

Timberlake’s lawyers are asking the court to prevent the images from being released or to review and edit them before they are made public.
