Dax Shepard, host of the Armchair podcast and husband of Kristen Bell, just sat down to discuss how cathartic it felt to go public with his story of sexual abuse.
The episode aired the same month and gave fans a glimpse into the 51-year-old’s emotions.
Regarding his personal sense of freedom, he said, “I’ve been here for years acknowledging that I’ve been abused, and that was the barrier to saying that.” Mainly because of the shame that comes with things like this.
Much of his concern about his own story also stems from his shame, which the actor himself admits. For those unfamiliar, the shame became so bad that it took him “months” to get that chapter down on paper. But the moment he did that, it was like a veil was lifted.
“The details would always be mine,” he began to say, trying to explain this hesitation. “I didn’t want anyone to target me [being abused]. It’s weird that that was still a wall between my shame.” (sic)
But now that it’s gone, “it feels like a lot of weight has been lifted off my shoulders,” and this is where he closed the subject.
What is pertinent to mention is that while news reports have emerged, no official title or release date has been announced as of yet.
