Rickie Fowler has revealed that a persistent left shoulder injury was the main reason for his problems during the 2025 PGA Tour season.
Fowler said after shooting a second-round 63 at Quail Hollow that the problem had bothered him since he was younger, but worsened significantly last season.
“Left shoulder. Things I’d been dealing with since high school and college. But it flared up early in the year,” Fowler said.
The 37-year-old golfer managed just three top-10 finishes in 21 events during the 2025 campaign despite making 18 cuts.
He has already matched that total halfway through the 2026 season and currently sits 30th in the FedEx Cup standings.
Fowler explained that the pain continued to worsen throughout the year before he finally underwent ACP injections in the offseason.
“I spent the year trying to deal with it as best I could. Once I had time off, I was able to do some ACP injections to help relax and calm it down.”
The American also revealed he had been dealing with a serious sinus infection during the opening rounds of the Truist Championship, saying he recorded temperatures of “102, 103”.
