‘Supergirl’ teaser shows Milly Alcock in different light than Superman

James Gunn teases ‘Supergirl’ clip ahead of trailer

The official trailer for Supergirl will be released this week. To stoke expectations, James Gunn has released a clip from the upcoming film, which features Milly Alcock as a superhero for the first time.

At first glance, it’s clearly evident that the Kryptonite native is different from her cousin Kal-El.

The clip shows the breakout star of House of the Dragon not in her superhero outfit, but in a casual look, including jacket, jeans and sunglasses.

Meanwhile, prior to her standalone film, she had entered the DC universe. First starting with Superman, followed by a brief cameo in season two of Peacemaker.

Furthermore, James, along with his co-DC creator Peter Safran, builds the universe; Milly’s Supergirl is, in his words, a perfect fit.

That’s one reason why the Superman director described the casting as “maybe the best I’ve ever done.”

James also shared earlier in his universe that the stories will be connected in different ways. In this light, he added, “Supergirl in particular is a space adventure. It’s like Guardians. Lanterns is its own thing.”

“There’s just a longer, kind of bigger world that we’re building with all these different pieces and they’re all coming together and intersecting sometimes in a narrative way and sometimes just in a, you know, ‘Here’s another piece of the world’ way.”

\Supergirl will be released in theaters on June 26, 2026.
