Pakistan and India will be confronted again in the Asia Cup on Sunday, a week after their last meeting ended not only in the seven-wicket victory of India, but also in controversy about a refused handshake after the match.
India won the group of September 14 through seven wickets in Dubai and then refused to shake hands with their opponents, who made Pakistan angry.
It was the first meeting between the neighbors, because a four -day reinforced conflict in May left more than 70 people to death.
The Pakistan Cricket Board submitted a protest with the International Cricket Council (ICC) and said that Match referee Andy Pycroft had told that skipper Salman Agha had not approached the Indian counterpart Suryakumar Yadav for a handshake at the Toss.
The PCB demanded that Pycroft had to be removed from their matches and threatened to withdraw from the eight-team T20i competition.
Their last group match was stopped for an hour before the printed circuit board said that Pycroft had apologized, and the game, with the Zimbabwan who was in charge, finally continued.
Pakistan defeated the hosts, the United Arab Emirates, to qualify for the next phase, the Super Fours, and to set up a different meeting with India in Dubai.
Indian Media reported that the team is planning to keep the policy without holding a hand screen for Sunday’s collision.
India spinner Kuldeep Yadav tried to make the controversy harmless.
“When you get onto the field, it’s just a batter for you. I have always approached Pakistan this way,” he told Oman on Friday for the last group match of India.
Agha also remained sport.
“If we play a good cricket as we have played in recent months, I think we will be good against every side,” Pakistan’s captain told reporters.
Simmering tensions
Due to loaded political ties, nuclear armed neighbors India and Pakistan come together at neutral locations during multi -part tournaments.
Tensions rose for the Asia cup after the two countries that had affected their worst conflict since 1999. The hostilities in May left more than 70 people dead in rocket, drone and artillery fairs, for a ceasefiring.
The conflict was activated by an attack in April on Burgers in Pahalgam in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir who accused New Delhi Pakistan of support, denies an accusation of Islamabad.
India opposed calls to boycott the first Pakistan match.
A potential third showdown in India-Pakistan appears if both parties are eligible for the final on 28 September in Dubai.
India has lifted the Asia Cup in its last 50-over edition and its favorites to keep the crown.
India and Pakistan went on to the next phase of group A, while Sri Lanka and Bangladesh qualified from group B.
Sri Lanka faces Bangladesh on Saturday in the first Super Fours.
Sri Lanka, unbeaten so far, looks dangerous, while Bangladesh wears the Underdog tag under skipper Litton Das.
Together with regional bragging, the Asia Cup serves as a structure to the T20 World Cup in February-March in India and Sri Lanka.
