Yerin Ha says Asian actors deserve these spaces in the film Bridgerton spotlight
The 28-year-old, who plays Sophie Baek in the drama’s fourth season, reflected on her role while attending the Lunar New Year Gold Celebration hosted by Gold House in New York on February 12.
She described the experience as “amazing and beautiful” and said she is proud to help advocate for greater inclusivity.
“It was really great and beautiful,” Ha says of being part of the final season of the series. “I was really absorbed in a press trip, it was really positive.”
“I’m just so proud to be the face of that and continue to advocate for change, knowing that we deserve these roles and spaces,” she adds.
Season four follows Sophie, a maid who attends a masquerade ball and catches the eye of Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson. After meeting her as the mysterious Lady in Silver, Benedict searches for her identity as their romance unfolds despite class differences.
Ha also described her experience filming the series. “We just have fun every day,” Ha said. “It was always a joke on the set, and everyone has a good time and a good conversation.”
Season four of Bridgerton is streaming on Netflix.
